Bonnie Mottaghi

Bonnie was born and raised in Detroit, and has resided in Milford for over 16 years.  She has studied architecture, landscape design, CAD and hand drafting, pen and ink rendering, watercolor, pottery, hand-made paper composition, and mixed media art.

Her art is mixed media, with an emphasis on the use of textile, fiber, and paper.  She learned how to sew and embroider at a very young age from her grandmother and mother.  You will observe many found items incorporated in her pieces.  She would like her art to be something you will examine closely and wonder how it was done.

It was while studying clay sculpting and pottery that her love for the dimensional aspect of art began. The absence of color in her art gives her pieces a neutral flair on your wall.  Her work reflects texture and movement and casts unusual shadows on the wall.  This encourages an optical illusion effect, thus the name she has given them…  ‘Wall Shadows’ was born.

She enjoys traveling up north to the great outdoors, soaking in nature and the fresh air with her best friend/husband, Behrooz.  They have five children and one grandson, and love every minute they get to spend with them.
