MARY BAJCZ
I’ve made quilts for over 28 years and am still delighted by the endless
ways a myriad of fabrics can be combined into a beautiful and useful
quilt - art that can keep you warm. I enjoy the serendipity in quilt
making. I start out with an idea for a block, a theme, or a drawing,
assemble a pile of fabric and start sewing. I watch to see what
works and what doesn’t and alter my design as the quilt grows.
Borders, sashes, embellishments, the actual quilting design, the
threads chosen to do the quilting, and even the binding, all add to
the finished work.
Lately, I am making more art quilts and reversible silk jackets using a
technique that lets me draw with my rotary cutter. I feel that I've
found my artistic voice in this technique.
